Guterres - life or death of United Nation's Sustainability Goals- no 21st C man or Digital Cooperation brand has born so much positive responsibility

Part of UN Brand Chartering- sustainability generation's most colaborative brand

PREVENTING EXTINCTION - THE GREATEST HUMAN INTEREST STORY?

The 17 SDGs were launched at 2015 september general assembly sept -- a legacy testimony to Bank Ki Moon's leadership. Guterres, Engineer and Practice Public Servant extraordinaire (Previously Portugal's national leader),  who had led UN refugees services for over a decade started his leadership of UN out of NY HQ Jan 2017 to end 2026.

Within a year, rumors of  worldwide search for Digital Cooperation expert panel were circulating; by summer these were confirmed - within 10 months leading tech experts from 20 countries would be chaired by US Melinda Gates an China's Jack Ma who had been the youth content host of G20 Hangzhou 2016 as well as chair of the entrepreneur committee of China's busiensmen who want to leave the wporld a better place which is sitauted in the middle of China's 2 main universities : Tsinghua and Peking - rebuilt as the ;largest 16 square miles of eneytrperenuril labs including Kai-Fu's lee's recommendation of AI Avenue

.

With regard to the world's largest cashless bank in population terms - www.bkash.com -one of the crowning hi-tech hi-trust legacies of half a century of poverty alleviation by fazle abed & billion villager women empowerment (sdg 5women 4ed 3health 2food 1finance can end poverty) : jack and melinda's foundations had come together as major co-investors. Furthermore Jack had been described by world bank jim kim as inventing bottom -up ai deep data in  a way he had never seen before - and would challenge every world bank operations to review. That being done by fall 2016, Jim Kim introduced Jack to the Geneva head of UNCTAD sept 2016 and by early 2017 Ma had been appointed as spevial trainer of tech wizards africa. Ma had already announced his retirement as Ali Baba leader - at world economic forum he would partner Japan Olympics, return full time to worldwide youth education - the job he had cheriseh for the first years of his life becoming China's most popular English teacher. Jack is a world citizen - by 2017 and this may be part of his downfall- softbank Masa Son and Goldman sachs were as much AliBaba's task masters as anyone. Jack's family were used to ups & downs ; they had been a troup of traveling players but some of their moral plays fell the wrong side of the cultural revolution. Our point is that Jack made an extraordinary architectural contribution to getting Un2.0 credible- even as he appears not to be free to directly contribute to any youth's current hopes as of 2022

Nobody in summer 2018 knew that the DC report was to feed the core idea of Guterres 10 years - UN2.0 Digital Roadmapping. This bookmark shows how quickly Dc reporting had beceme a 9 platform partnership in can UN be digitalised https://www.un.org/en/sg-digital-cooperation-panel

UPDATE SUMMER 2022 -as well as worldide process integration in at least 50 Un operation office assisted by UN's digotal twin from birth 1945 ITU Geneva- at least 3 small but specail ops teams have been set up direct;ly to serve Gutterers coordnatioon out of new york

2022: the overall lead isa small team seving Guterres : the tech envoy office- its had some straffing disruptions but its really revving up summer 2022

=========

Portugal and humanitarian world's Antonio Guterres 10 year term started late 2016 - one year after sustainability's 15 year deadline was agreed by all nations sept 2015

No sooner that Guetrres started than so did 7 no trumps; what with 4 years of trump; 2017-2021 ; endless (well unknow edn date) covid from start of 2020; endless putin war (well unknow end date) including endless disrupption of basic food markets the porest depend on ;

the largest ever population of refugees - and hell knows what else the world has thrpown at Guterres , its amazing he has also taken on UN2.0 - digital UN as his own legacy for humanity; but then as an engineer, servnat leader (his servoice to refugees beng aligned toi frabcsican ways), former prime miniter of one of teh EU countries most different from Brussels centralisation plan - we should be grateful for what Guterres is trying to do in giving milklennials and their parents the opportunity to make tech the solution not thye endgame to homo sapines

As we feauire here Guterres has set up a headquaretrs NY team called tech envoy offuice with 2 new specialist teams on dtata and on countries Q&A on what they need next on digital ; there are 9 jigsaw pieces to assembling digita Un2.0; its important to understand how these 9 terms foirm the digital recipe of the UN(where did they first get parfctised in the UN) and how do they compare with other peoples view of the alphapbetical and alphanumric soups of digital

UN2.0

Artificial Intel (at the UN) became arguably the invation to unite etch for good when 2017 ITU started hosting what in times of zoom has been continuous AI summiting -colaunched by the IEEE's doyen of AI Steve I baracchi and two main players of singularirty university's Xprize- founder Diamandis and then Xprize directior Marcus Shingles now inviting every next year of learning to build metaverse for sdgs into UN and high school up approaches to empoiwering youth as sdg generation

7 to 9 June 2017

(the un's digotal twin out Of Geneva) at birth 1945 UN policy HW NY this resembles what MIT and Stanford meant by twinning AI labs in early 1960s - ie the legacy of 100 times more tech per decade gifted by von neumann and his (Goats) of mathematics eg Einstein , Turing (these 3 greats had died by 1957 - Neumann dying tragically early as his cooordinating responsibility for the us winning the race to nuckear gave him brain cancer ) - see my family's biography of von neumman and journalism of his question 100 times more tech peer decade since my dad met V neumman princeton 1951 -see also EconomistLearning sectors of EconomistDiary since 1951 when Economist sub-editotr Macrae (dad) met von neummann and was mentored in the biggest jouranlisam innovation scoop of all time - alumnisat 100 times motre tech per decade 3035-1835 - see also boigraphy of von neumann by macare

something else was officially born as a bridge between Geneva and NY UNs in 2017 - Digital Cooperation- actually tjhis began at the first 12 month appraisal of hod sdg4 education was goind led by gordon broiwn - it was conclkuded that some countries would not reach sdg4 to yera 2100 unless 3 boosts became real:
more funding
ways in which bad schools benchamrk from good (by bad we mean ones with near zero livelihood prospoects for their alumni); strangely bit within natiosn and across nations benchmarking betetr schools has never before been celebrated
3rd as advocated by jim kim , jack ma and others concerned with tech was not including youth - the day after browns education commission summit- kim introduced jack ma to the head of UNCTSAD -Geneva's trade for good arm of the UN then led by a Kenyan; Jack ma was invited to become tech envoy for entrepreneurial youth across africa and anywjere else that wanted him ; within months of the ai for good summit - it was announced at an UNCTAD summit that a 9 months process was launching Digital Cooperation report for Guterres- this would be co-chaired by melinda gates and jack ma and 30 ytech concerned peoiples from other natiosn

by GuterresDuring UN HQ leadership the ITU has been led by Zoulin- although the UN does not often use the terms web3 or blockchain- in fall 2016 dc-tech-for-good started questioning the USAUID transition team how would blockchain chnage everything they did- you can also look at when DC goernment caucus councils were begun on AI. and Blockchain - this is not a competition - in DC those wanting freedom of s=peech for introduct=cing a transformative engineering innovation need to celebrate each other when well intended - equally in DC when it turns out that a movementy is rooted in unstoppabke change all hell brekas lost as traditional vetsed interests claim their version of the term

whta the ITU has always been about by defintion is Universal Connectivity and since 2003-2005 it started annual surveys on what it called worldwide information society - this attracted a first 20 operational branches of the UN to continous WSIS networking

UniversalConnectivity - This had in effect been what the ITU has prposed around teh world since its begii=innings in bern 1865 at the fusion of electricity and communication - first in telegraph, soon in telecommuications -the meaning of T since the ITU was intergarted into UN's bit=rth- note by defition nobody wants 2 telephone systems - so the ITU's job has been to connect the industry scetiors that have to colaboirate for worlkdwide to be delivered in tele-processes; thiese include from 1964 how satellite televisual connections link in

so now we know where 3 terms cam from we cam start to fit in the other pieces of jigsaw the way Un2.0 archiytects /roadmaps the future

Digital Public Goods - a natural ally to ITU's role gloabl connectivity -a fter all airwaves are a commons whethert you map that at national subnational or transational level

Digital Capaciuty Building - training everywhere

Digital Human Rights - clearly HUman Rights langauge/actions has been a main faciliation raison d'eftre in its work - so if we are to celebrate digoita Un wit is only natural to map where digiotal human rigfhts are rising expoenentially not collapsing

as we discuss at economistun we have 3 more terms to co-work the way UN2.0 is being architected:

Digital Inclusion; Digital Trust and Secutity; and CODES: COllab Digita Environmental Sustainability

2025 2001 Q-century notes on UN and on refugees lead ethical ai thanks to Portugal's Moral Sentiments Mapmakers eg Guterres

Breaking news  september 2021 - Antonio Guterres tries to unite nations around 2020s urgent innovation challenges - sustainability - issues common agenda report - declares 2 years of UNsummitfuture ---- EcoomistDiary.com   OxfordAI and Xglasgow.com invite collaborations reporting of  good news on whose zooming up what on humans last chance journey

When it comes to sustainability, nearly 5/7 of the world's population live in the eastern hemisphere-

The UN has many of our species most vital functions- its valuation of refugees futures changed when Antonio Guterres elected head of UN -see
0 lifetime of servant leadership of refugees- portuguese franciscan servant leadership - education of sustainable youth needs the world of brazilian paulo freire more than any other pedagogue

1 guterres was elected december 2015 - so he linked in first year of summits defined by the UN's relaunch round 17 sustainability goals - sept 2019 UNGA will be the first time he has chief hosted his own sdgs and climate summit

2 his 2017-18 head of UNGA from east europe has been relentless in asking about the gap between goals and finance - in june 2018 a former wall street man blew the whistle - the 300 trillion ! dollars of most liquid assets dont recognise anything called sdg as asset grade - ie none of these funds ever reach humanity's greatest goals=  next head of the UNGA is a lady from Ecuador- Ecoador was the first nation to host summit of goals related to UN Habitat - a fitting place for Darwinians (Galapagos being in Ecuador); she is expected to raise womens lives mater at year's GA

3 Spring 2018 a new head of unhabitat was appointed - the former mayor of penang malaysia- she's relcsated to the head office in nairobi- she is asking all friends of goal 11 sustainable cities and communities not only to think outside the box- tfere is no box to linking in nature's diversity
she has announced a deadline of marc 2019 = post in acses of benchamrk cities and communities for her report launching the 2020s

4 "Digital Cooperation"  guterres has asked jack ma and melinda gates to report back by march 2019 on opportunities of digital cooperation- compare this with EconomistDiary.com - the report will be excellently timed as gift to 100+ national leaders coming to beijing for Belt Road Imagine 2 - see BRI.school - after BR1 May 2017 Guterres thank China's Jinping for a summit format that actioned so many projects across clusters of nations compared with summits in ny where we often chat too much- the point is asia cant develop without infrstructure- when nation bankers obscure this issue they destroy human rights faster than any other mess old lobbyists trap youth in

lessons from world war 2 - fazle abed, gandhi mandela and friends

when i look back at world war 2 whats great is the world led by america worked out ways so that the big losing nations - japan germany italy had become within 10 years better countries for their own people and everyone they traded with

paradoxically i am less sure if this was the case -in other respects - for any of the big wiinners uk russia, canada , usa - did lives of the poorest or historically abused in any of these 4 countries; however as a sct born in london i want to reserve my cricism for britain

britains rteally big additional responsibility was to free many colonies so their peoples could become productive and haooy- surely this needed more than turning over a system designed to extract from the peoples just to nationals- iuf friends of eg gandhi were correct in saying the british raj effectiveky took/taxed from the peoples 80% of natural assets and their work to beneft london then just handing over a broken system wasnt enough; i am well aware that britain was quasi-bankrupted by world war 2 but since we are talking about a quarter of the world's population why didnt bodies such as un or world bank help with a trnsitionary phase? i realise i am oversimplfying- communications were still so poor in 1945 that perhaps very few people in us headquarters felt they knew anything to contribute more to the indian subcontinent than london

if you go through every country thar gsined indepence from britain the great successes are superports at key trading crossrods with under 10 million unlike india's billion plus; even they merit careful study- lee kuan yew was among national leaders obsessed with jobs jobs hobs and harmonising cultures - a wonderful mix ensuring singapore is now the wisest and shared wealthiest nation with the possible exception of those small population nations with huge oil reserves

but if you go through other ex colonies or places that britain had excuded from world trade including the chinese mainland - india pakistan etc seem like cases that lost their way for decades; this brings me to bangladesh- a totally uniquecase by 1971 when its people finally fred themselves there was so little urban wealth for government to admister that the rural peoples/mthers networked ro rebuild the nation - by buildong their ow basic health services, food secrurity, finance, education they have also offere extrairinary learning to true long term parters especially those bringing tech since 1996 - following this logic her are the 30 most collaboratice cases for community building sdgs - all with a bangladesh village mothers energisation by love

do they help to provide lessons for anywhere else
